Who is Mark Dalsing

Husband, father, friend and so much more

Mark Dalsing served the City of Dubuque, IA as both a police officer and Chief of Police before his retirement in September 2021. From there he joined the Affordable Housing Department at Catholic Charities until his unexpected death in April 2022.

Mark was know for lighting up rooms,  being a jokester, a shoulder to lean on and the best husband, father, family member and friend anyone could wish for. Outside of his 20+ years of service on the police department, Mark loved participating in 5K running events throughout the Tri-State area. Although, self-admittedly, he wasn't the fastest runner, he ran for joy. Crossing the finish line and getting a T-Shirt were the two best things about running to him, regardless of what the clock said.

Mark and his wife, Jennie, raised two children, Benjamin, and Emilie, together. He is missed and thought of every day. Although the grief of losing him doesn't go away, his memory and smile lives on in our hearts.

In 2023, the Live Like Mark Memorial Run raised over $4,000 for the Avery Foundation; a foundation committed to helping aid those with cancer. This year, proceeds from this run will be donated to St. Mark's Youth Enrichment, a program aimed at offering educational and enrichment based programming to local families.

Join us in honoring Mark and celebrating his life with a 5K (3.1 mile) run/walk! Click the Run Details tab to get more information and the Registration tab to sign up! Hope to see you there. - The Dalsing Family
